The Notorious Daughter of Fanny Hill is another nudie cutie from the master of exploitation, David F. Friedman who brought us She Freak, Trader Hornee, and The Adult Version of Jekyll and Hide and also brought us great grindhouse gold with Blood Feast, Two Thousand Maniacs, and Color Me Blood Red with Herschell Gordon Lewis. Although this nudie cutie is not one of Friedman’s best and doesn’t have the great Friedman charm his other films have.
The movie is set in 19th century London and follows Kissy Hill the notorious daughter of Fanny Hill and she follows in her mother’s footsteps by being a high-class prostitute. She entertains different high society men and even throws sex parties with her friends and her best clients. Stacey Walker who has been in many different nudie cutie features and shorts films throughout the 1960’s plays Kissy Hill.
As far as stories go this one is very bad and very boring, but it is a nudie cutie and when watching one of these films we’re not here for a great entertaining story and what we are here to see is some cutie nudies. As for that the nudies don’t really come in until the end. The first half of the film Kissy just teases us by having sex with her clients and not showing a bit of skin. It almost looks like the film was edited to cut out the nudity. Later when Kissy is throwing her sex party there is finally some skin of Kissy and her two girlfriends, but it is far too late to save this film.
The film also has a dark ending, which seemed uncommon for these nudie cuties of this era, because most of them are very light hearted and so was this film. It ends with a duchess, played by Linda Cochran (Two Thousand Maniacs, The Defilers) enters Kissy’s room while she is taking a bath and looks like she is about to seduce her, but while she helps her into her bed she puts a pillow over her face and kills her. The duchess was getting revenge for Kissy sleeping with her husband.
This is one of those films you just fast-forward through and watch the good parts, which there is not that many. The Notorious Daughter of Fanny Hill is not a good nudie cutie of that time and not one of Friedman’s best. Good thing Friedman made other films that were good exploitation/ sexploitation/splatter/grindhouse films that were worth watching. Unfortunately, The Notorious Daughter of Fanny Hill is not one of them.
